I found these while browsing around Play.com. First up, Fierce Deity Link from Majora’s Mask:

Other Zelda figures include Sheik, Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time Adult Link. Here is a nice one of Samus striking a pose:

They are all made by First 4 Figures whose website can be found here.

President of Epic Games Not a Wii Fan April 20, 2008

In what could easily be mistaken for some pathetic forum fanboyism, Epic Games President Mike Capps reveals he is no fan of the Wii in and intervie with IGN:

IGN: What do you think of the Wii and Nintendo’s…

Capps: Pffffffffft…

IGN: (laughter) I know! I think the same thing! It’s like, “Come on, why are you buying this system?!”

Capps: I know. I’ve got one.

IGN: Everybody does! Bring it out at parties and everyone’s like, “Oh it’s a Wii!”

Capps: Part of it’s being cheap. I think it’s a, I mean, so two things: first of all, great credit to them. The first time I played a videogame with my parents – aging myself a bit – was on Atari 2600. The next time I played a videogame with my parents, 25 years later or whatever, was Wii Tennis. So it’s about bringing people together, families, Thanksgiving, all that. I think it’s kind of like a weird virus because I have not yet found a reason to play with my Wii since then.

IGN: Exactly. For a real gaming experience…

Capps: Right, Zelda I really didn’t enjoy on it. They back-fitted the control scheme on it, it was better on the GameCube. Mario, I wish there had been a button instead of wiggle and all that kind of ****. So I haven’t played anything that I really wished hadn’t been on another platform sadly enough. It’s a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they’re like, “Oh my God that’s so cool, I’m gonna go buy it.” So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they’ve showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. Obviously there’s a class of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games but I’m still waiting for that one game that makes me play it. Who knows, maybe Wii Fit will be it.

IGN: Wii Fit’s pretty fun.

Capps: Is it?

IGN: At last year’s E3 everyone was hatin’ on me for saying it was gonna be good. But sure enough, it is.

Capps: Well everything they do is good!

IGN: Yeah, oh yeah. And everyone hates it at first. “The Wii?! Motion-sensitive controllers? What the hell is that?”

Capps: I know, the name. We all say Wii now and never even think about the name anymore. They know what they’re doing and they make money better than anyone else does. As an investor you love ’em, but as a next-gen console technology maker, they don’t run UE3 and they can’t.

IGN: Is there any chance that Epic will ever, is there going to be a point where there are too many Wiis on the market for you guys to not make a game for it?

Capps: No, we go forward, not back. It makes more sense for us to invest in the next-generation tech. There have been shops that have done it. Red Steel was a launch title and that was on Unreal Engine. So it’s been done. How you take an engine that’s all based on shaders and materials and run it on hardware that doesn’t support shaders is just impossible. It’s about as easy as PSP for us. Maybe it would make sense, but it makes more sense to invest going forward.

First of all, LOL @ the inteviewer. Embarrassing, and secondly its good to see that the old “Wii has no games” chestnut is still being banded about. Epic? Epic fail, more like. Pfffffffffffffffffffffffft.

Well then, as you’ve possibly heard by now the next Mortal Kombat game will feature characters from the DC universe. To make matters worse, Fatalities (MK’s most memorable feature) will be absent to allow the game a “T for Teen” rating. By the way, apart form the two obvious ones, how many DC characters can you actually name (without using Wikipedia)?

Available now from the Live Marketplace for 800 points. I’ve spent some time with them so far and here are my thoughts. First up is Blackout:

Its a remake of Lockout from Halo 2 and since I haven’t played that at all I don’t have any idea what has changed. There is a large open helipad in the middle, multiple levels with confined rooms and walkways – the highest level is a good sniping spot.

There is even a basketball hoop to throw grenades through if you get bored. It is probably the best looking level of the three. Next up is Avalanche:

Remake of Sidewinder from Halo. It’s basically two big open spaces with a small enclosed area in the middle. Getting around the level is easy due to the man-cannons dotted about the place and the selection of vehicles outside your base.

Not a bad level but due to its size it is best suited to games with large numbers of players, seems like it would be a laugh on Rocket Race too. Now the final map, Ghost Town:

A totally new map built from the ground up, it takes place in a ruined compound of sorts with lots of rubble inside and out to use as cover. Multiple levels in the open-top buildings and a lot of good sniping spots.

Seems like it would be a pretty good map for Shotty Snipers or Infection-type games, which I generally hate. So far I would probably have to say that Blackout is my favourite of the three. To finish, here is a nice picture of me on said level energy-swording some poor soul in the face, knocking them over the side and winning the game for my team with the final kill:

Less than two weeks to go and for some strange reason I am nowhere near as excited about this game as I should be. The music used is Get Innocuous! by LCD Soundsystem from their Sound of Silver album, which is excellent by the way.

Finally got round to upgrading the RAM on my laptop from an appalling 512MB to a reasonably beastly 2GB. At least I’ll now be able to open more than 2 programs at once without said laptop shitting itself. I’ll also be able to play games made within the last year but that’s pretty pointless since I can’t really be arsed with PC games (more trouble than they are worth) and the only ones I do play are Football Manager 2008 and the occasional session on Space Cadet 3D Pinball.

Want one. Available to Platinum Club Nintendo members in Japan I think but I’ll probably end up paying some ridiculous price for it on Ebay or wherever.

This is the result of trying to get achievements in Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. Ordered a new phone off of Ebay but that got lost in the post so had to resort to using Play.com, should be delivered within a year.
